Shipping & Delivery Policy

Last Updated: August 26, 2026

Ohio Storage Container delivers shipping containers to residential, commercial, agricultural, construction, and industrial locations throughout Ohio.

Because shipping containers require specialized transportation and unloading equipment, delivery is different from ordinary parcel or freight shipping. The condition of the site, available access, container size, delivery distance, and unloading method can all affect the final delivery.

This policy explains what customers should expect before, during, and after delivery.

For questions about a specific order, contact Ohio Storage Container before scheduling delivery.

Delivery Areas

Ohio Storage Container provides delivery throughout Ohio, subject to truck availability, site access, container availability, and the requirements of the individual order.

Our service area includes Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo, Akron, Dayton, Canton, Youngstown, Mansfield, Newark, Lancaster, Lima, Springfield, Findlay, Marion, Delaware, Dublin, Zanesville, and surrounding communities.

Customers outside our standard service area may still contact us to discuss available delivery options.

Delivery Timeframes

Delivery time depends on several factors, including:

  • Container availability

  • Container size and condition

  • Customer location

  • Delivery truck availability

  • Site readiness

  • Requested modifications

  • Specialty equipment

  • Weather conditions

  • Road conditions

  • Other circumstances outside our reasonable control

An estimated delivery window will be provided during the quoting or order-confirmation process.

Delivery dates are estimates unless Ohio Storage Container specifically confirms otherwise in writing.

Customers ordering custom-modified containers, refrigerated units, offices, or other specialty containers should expect additional preparation time compared with standard in-stock storage containers.

We will communicate with you if a material scheduling change affects your order.

Delivery Charges

Delivery charges are based on factors such as:

  • Delivery ZIP code

  • Distance from the container or delivery location

  • Container size

  • Transportation equipment required

  • Site accessibility

  • Number of containers

  • Special unloading or placement requirements

The applicable delivery charge will be shown or communicated before the order is finalized.

Unless your quote or order confirmation specifically states otherwise, customers should not assume that delivery is included in the advertised container price.

For current pricing, request a shipping container quote using the ZIP code where the container will be delivered.

Preparing Your Site Before Delivery

The customer is responsible for making sure the delivery site is accessible, stable, and ready before the truck arrives.

Before scheduling delivery, consider:

  • Entrance and gate width

  • Driveway width

  • Turning space

  • Overhead electrical lines

  • Telephone or utility lines

  • Tree branches

  • Fences

  • Buildings

  • Parked vehicles

  • Soft or muddy ground

  • Slopes

  • Drainage

  • Underground utilities

  • Septic systems

  • Placement direction

  • Space required for the truck to unload and leave the property

Shipping container delivery trucks are large and require considerably more room than a passenger vehicle.

If access is uncertain, we strongly recommend sending photographs, measurements, or videos of the entrance, route, and proposed placement location before the delivery is scheduled.

Providing accurate site information helps us identify potential access problems before a truck is dispatched.

Ground Conditions and Container Placement

Containers should normally be placed on a level, firm, and well-drained surface capable of supporting the container and its intended contents.

Common surfaces include:

  • Compacted gravel

  • Concrete

  • Asphalt

  • Properly positioned concrete supports

  • Other suitable load-bearing surfaces

The appropriate foundation depends on the property, container, intended use, and local conditions.

The customer is responsible for preparing the placement area before delivery unless a separate site-preparation service has been agreed to in writing.

Ohio Storage Container and the delivery driver may decline to place a container in an area considered unsafe or likely to cause damage to the truck, container, property, or surrounding structures.

Delivery Access and Clearance

Adequate clearance must be available for the delivery vehicle to safely enter, unload, and exit the property.

The exact space required depends on:

  • Container length

  • Truck or trailer type

  • Unloading method

  • Ground conditions

  • Placement angle

  • Direction the container doors need to face

Customers should also check overhead clearance carefully.

Power lines, trees, roof overhangs, signs, utility cables, and similar obstacles can prevent safe delivery even when there appears to be enough space on the ground.

If you are unsure about access, contact our team before the delivery date.

Choosing the Door Direction

Please confirm your preferred container-door direction before delivery.

Depending on the unloading method, the way the container is loaded onto the truck can determine which direction the doors face after placement.

We will make reasonable efforts to place the container according to the agreed instructions, provided the site allows the driver to do so safely.

Last-minute requests to reverse the door direction or move the container to a substantially different location may not always be possible.

Delivery Appointment and Customer Availability

Customers should provide accurate contact information when placing an order.

We may contact you before delivery to confirm:

  • Delivery address

  • Site access

  • Placement instructions

  • Delivery timing

  • Contact person

  • Any special conditions previously discussed

When customer presence is required, an adult authorized to approve placement should be available at the delivery location.

If you cannot be present and delivery without attendance has been approved, placement instructions must be clear and agreed upon beforehand.

Failed or Unsuccessful Delivery

A delivery may be unsuccessful when the driver cannot safely access or unload at the location because of circumstances including:

  • Insufficient clearance

  • Narrow access

  • Unsafe ground conditions

  • Unprepared placement area

  • Locked gates

  • Parked vehicles blocking access

  • Undisclosed overhead obstructions

  • Incorrect address information

  • Customer-requested placement that cannot be performed safely

If a delivery cannot be completed because the site was not reasonably accessible or prepared as described by the customer, additional transportation, waiting, redelivery, or handling charges may apply.

For this reason, we strongly encourage customers to raise any access concerns before delivery is scheduled.

Weather and Other Delivery Delays

Container delivery involves heavy commercial vehicles, and some conditions can make transportation or placement unsafe.

Delivery may be rescheduled because of:

  • Heavy rain

  • Flooding

  • Snow or ice

  • Severe storms

  • Unsafe road conditions

  • Soft or saturated ground

  • Vehicle breakdown

  • Traffic disruptions

  • Government restrictions

  • Other circumstances beyond reasonable control

Safety takes priority over maintaining an estimated delivery date.

When a material delay occurs, we will work with the customer to arrange the next practical delivery opportunity.

Inspecting Your Container at Delivery

When possible, customers should inspect the container shortly after delivery.

Check the unit for:

  • Correct container size

  • General condition

  • Door operation

  • Visible transportation damage

  • Flooring condition

  • Obvious openings or damage inconsistent with the purchased condition

Used shipping containers naturally show cosmetic evidence of previous service.

Depending on age and condition, this may include:

  • Dents

  • Scratches

  • Surface rust

  • Paint wear

  • Patches

  • Previous markings

  • Minor repairs

Cosmetic wear alone does not necessarily mean the container is defective.

The condition of the container should be evaluated according to the condition or grade stated in the order.

If you believe your container arrived with damage that was not expected or does not match the agreed condition, contact us promptly and provide clear photographs.

Wind and Watertight Used Containers

Used containers sold as wind and watertight are intended to prevent ordinary wind and rain from entering through holes or significant openings when the doors are properly closed.

Wind and watertight does not mean new, cosmetically perfect, moisture-free under every environmental condition, or suitable for every possible use.

Used containers may still show signs of previous service.

Customers storing moisture-sensitive goods should also consider condensation control, ventilation, insulation, and the suitability of the container for the specific materials being stored.

Refrigerated and Specialty Container Delivery

Refrigerated containers, office containers, modified units, open top containers, and other specialty products may have additional delivery and site requirements.

For refrigerated containers, customers should confirm the required electrical service and operating conditions before the unit is delivered.

For offices and modified containers, the placement area should be prepared with the final configuration, doors, windows, utilities, and intended use in mind.

Additional requirements will be discussed when applicable to the order.

Customer Responsibility for Permits and Local Rules

The customer is responsible for determining whether local permits, zoning approvals, association approvals, setbacks, or other requirements apply before delivery.

Rules can vary between cities, townships, counties, zoning districts, and properties.

Ordering or delivering a container does not mean that its placement or intended use has been approved by a local authority.

Customers planning to use a shipping container as an office, workshop, home, pool, or other modified structure should confirm all applicable requirements before proceeding.

For additional information, read our Shipping Container FAQs.

Changes to Delivery Instructions

Contact us as soon as possible if you need to change:

  • Delivery address

  • Container size

  • Placement location

  • Door direction

  • Requested delivery date

  • Contact information

  • Access instructions

Changes requested after transportation has been scheduled or dispatched may result in additional costs or delays.

A change is not confirmed until Ohio Storage Container acknowledges and accepts it.

Order Cancellations and Refunds

Shipping and delivery cancellations are subject to the terms that apply to the specific order and the stage at which cancellation is requested.

Orders that have already been prepared, modified, scheduled for transportation, or dispatched may be subject to restrictions or costs.
